70x7 Life Recovery (formerly Criminal Justice Chaplaincy) invites you to an introduction to mentoring an ex-offender, a "returning citizen."  The obstacles faced by ex-offenders returning to our community are so overwhelming that often a productive life without crime seems impossible to achieve on their own.  As a mentor, you become part of a team that provides support to help returning citizens deal with and overcome these threatening obstacles, making our community safer and healthier in the process!

A mentor is a concerned, accepting friend who provides encouragement and promotes accountability.  At the meeting you will hear from a former inmate about the effects of the prison experience and typical obstacles faced when re-entering society.  You will find out what mentoring involves and how to be an effective mentor.  At a follow up Healthy Mentor Relationships training, you will learn about building rapport, listening effectively, problem-solving, and boundary setting.  Come explore this opportunity to make a difference!
